Location

Cagliari d'Amare stands at Via Roma 167, the arcaded street laid out in place of the old Marina walls, 50 metres from the train station and the ARST bus terminal on Piazza Matteotti. The Marina is about five minutes away on foot, Castello around ten, and Elmas airport 4.6 km.

Getting there

From the airport the easiest option is the train: Elmas Aeroporto station is less than 300 metres from the terminal along a covered walkway, and regional trains to Cagliari run roughly every 20 minutes on weekdays, approximately from 5:18 to 23:07, taking 5–7 minutes. Alternatively, a handful of daily ARST buses run to Piazza Matteotti, and taxis wait at the Arrivals rank around the clock.

Ferry passengers usually land at Molo Sabaudo, a few hundred metres away. Drivers won't find parking at the property: near the station there is the underground car park on Via Amat, open 24 hours. Check the limited traffic zone rules before driving into the centre, and allow for the metro works on Via Roma, expected to last until the end of 2027.

What to see

Step outside and you are under the Via Roma arcades, lined with eclectic and Liberty buildings. Piazza del Carmine, 100 metres away, hosts concerts and folk events during the Feast of Sant'Efisio, from 1 to 4 May. Heading up to Castello you'll find the Bastione di Saint Remy, with its Terrazza Umberto I, and the National Archaeological Museum, open daily, with its Nuragic bronzes. The Botanical Garden, 550 metres away, is closed on Mondays.

For the sea, take the bus: Poetto, eight kilometres of beach between the Sella del Diavolo and Margine Rosso, is 4.8 km away, and Calamosca, a cove where the Sella del Diavolo trail begins, is 4.9 km away. Molentargius park, 3.4 km away, is home to pink flamingos. Spring and early autumn are ideal for the city, June to September for the beach.
